Beckett Rolls

"There is one word in America that says it all, and that one word is, 'You never know.' "

   - Joaquin Andujar, Major League Baseball Pitcher

Twenty-three year old Josh Beckett was virtually unhittable as he pitched the Florida Marlins to a   2-0 victory over New York tonight.  Game 6 and the 2003 World Series go to the Marlins, who win for the second time in their 11 year existence, the other Championship coming in 1997.

The New York crowd and the Yankee team seemed stunned as Beckett made the final out all by himself, tagging Jorge Pasada on the first base line after he fielded his tapper, putting a cap on his and his teammates' dominant performance throughout the nine innings.

This was a great Series.  It was so enjoyable to watch it's a shame it had to end.  I can't wait for next year.  Hey, maybe the Braves will be in it.  Who knows?

I cant believe the yankees didn't win. They were the only thing I got to keep when I split with my ex-fiance and they lost the series. Maybe someone should have put a red sox vex on the Marlins ..... Its a thought for next season huh. Well no more baseball, gotta figure out another way to pass the time ..... HOCKEY

I was raised by a die-hard Mets fan..my dad. And I am married to a Yankees fan. My dad HATED those Yankees! But he loved baseball more than anything, (except his kids!) He died last year..Anyway....I was secretly hoping the Marlins would take it! Good for them! I love your journal, and especially love what you said about being married to the "same beautiful friend" for 38 years". What a lovely thing to say! Take care....

You and I agree on this play-off season and World Series. It has been great! It is so fitting that Josh Beckett got the tag for the last out. These guys have won my heart and I am going to follow them much closer next year. I just hope they don't dismantle this time like they did after the last World Series victory. They gave us a wonderful ride and they have so many appealing players I can't imagine anyone wanting to break them up.
