Taking A Break

"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not."

    - Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882), American poet

The Missus and I are heading to the Savannah Airport in a few minutes to catch a flight to California where we plan to meet some of our friends for 10 days of golf, eating out, shooting the bull, shopping, relaxing by the pool and whatever else people do when they're trying to do nothing.

It's been awhile since we've had a vacation like this, and we're really looking forward to it. Hopefully, we'll find better weather on the west coast than we've been having here. Full of optimism, we're even taking shorts just in case it's warm.

Since I won't be blogging until I return on February 10, I hope you won't abandon me. You may find some of my older entries worth reading, if you'll take some time to explore the things I was writing about when I was a younger man and the world was a more peaceful place.

Take good care of yourselves, don't let the politicians get your dander up, and don't worry, be happy. See you when I return.

Ron

You're one of my favorite journal stops, so I'll be here when you get back. Have a wondeful vacation and welcome to California!

Btw, congrats on making the AOL Editor's Weekly Top Five Journal picks, definitely well deserved.

Congradulations on being one of the top five. You got a nice journal! We homeschool and I have two kids one 23 who graduated from Homeschooling & is teaching at a private school & one 16 who has her permit now. Both care for the elderly & love kids and animals. We also go camping too. Both are in Piano and Karate. Post in my journal & see how our daily life goes on I 'd love to hear from you. LORI

You've got lousy timing, Ron.
You made the Top 5 for the week and they put you on the Election Guide "Sideshow," and you decide to go off galavanting for 10 days...

Man, I don't care for golf, but I wish I was there.

Since you will read this when you get back, hope you had a great time in Cal. and I know the golf was great whether or not you played well. Since we have been so frosty up here, I do envy you and Liz just a little. Have fun but hurry home and get back on the keyboard.

So did you take a boat out to see the whales swimming by? Something I would like to do, maybe someday I'll get to do it but until then I'll be happy to hear any second hand accounts of the event...so did you and your dear wife get a chance to do that while in California?

The whales are great, I've been out to see them many times and its always like the first time. I'll be taking my son to see them as he never has. Have a great vacation and thanks for joinging The Journal keepers.

We didn't do the whale watching this time, but I have seen them off the coast of Oregon. I've never been in a boat and had one of those huge flukes appear right beside me like I've seen in photos. That would be exciting.
