Road Trip to Texas

When traveling with someone, take large doses of patience and tolerance with your morning coffee.

   - Helen Hayes (1900-1993), American stage and screen actress

I'll be away for a couple of weeks and there will be no posting. The wife and I will be driving, yes driving, to Texas to visit one of our sons who lives in Fort Worth. We both know this trip will test our marriage for we've never been in the car together for two weeks straight. Our travel preferences differ greatly--she's a "get there as quickly as possible" person; I'm a "why don't we go down this little road and see what's there?" type. We both hate to compromise. Wish us luck.

I've been fighting the urge to give up on this little project so maybe the time away will re-ignite my enthusiasm for continuing to blog. Sometimes, as I've discovered in the past, getting away from an activity that I've been excited about but gradually lost interest in helps me to get refocused and return with renewed passion. Let's see if it works this time.

In the meantime, everyone take good care of yourselves, be kind to each other and stay safe wherever you may be.

You know that Milam and I hope you both enjoy the opportunity you are taking to run the roads and thoroughly enjoy all that you will see and do if you want to.  There really isn't any reason to go like your butt's on fire so just sit back and savor the experience.  Play golf on strange courses and see what happens.  Eat different food.  Remember, it is just for two weeks--we did this for 8 months.  Get back safely.

Wishing you both a safe trip, and a good time.

My husband and I did a 5 week camping trip to all the Western National Parks for our honeymoon 28 years ago. It was one of the best vacations ever and fortunately we both bouts of "hurry-up and get there" and "let's take this diversion" at the same time.  The diversions always turned out to be so interesting and suprising that we both now love to take them.  We also take along books on CD to listen to to pass the time on long driving legs so no one gets the hurry-ups to severely.

Good luck on your trip!  Road trips are hard even when all parties agree on everything, lol.
Nice journal--wondering how you got so many hits--over 14,000--very impressive!!!
Our politics differ, but you seem like a genuinely nice person, that's a rarity out here in the "blogosphere"!!!
Hope you have (had) a lovely vacation.  Check out my blog sometime if you don't mind a little dissent ;)

I had cancer in 1986 and am very blessed by the miracle of 19 more years.  Many personal problems have made me forget the miracle of those days and your words have ignited a new flame for living passionately again.  Thank you so very much!  May I once again be the inspiration you are.  I hope you keep writing for people like me.

Dr. Budwig was nominated for the nobel prize 7 times for her cancer answer.
She was BLACKBALLED FROM THE CANCER INDUSTRY BECAUSE SHE REFUSED TO USE CHEMOTHERAPHY OR RADIATION.  There are over 500 websites on her work.   Please do not take this the wrong way because it could save lives of your loved ones or you.    It has saved 100's of 1.000's of lives of cancer victims (worldwide) after standard treatments failed.   If you wish to read of these people I am including a couple of websites and you are welcome to share it with others.

Okay Ron, if you don't post something NEW soon folks are gonna think either A: you're being held captive in Texas, B: you're still driving around out there lost because you just couldn't resist "going down that little road to see what was there" and you're too proud to ask for directions, or C: you're recovering from the major ass whooping the little wife gave you because she just couldn't take being in the car with you any longer...:)

Please come back!  We miss your words of wisdom!

Hi Ron, Hope you're doing okay. I know a lot of bloggers drop out of sight now and then. I do and usually without warning and then I find out there were people who read me and cared about what I wrote and missed me and I feel terrible. I hope you'll make appearances again from time to time. We miss you. Well, I do anyway.

Cheese Louise :)

Just thought I'd let you know I've been out of blogging a long time and yours was the FIRST I checked back in on.  Hope all is well wether you come back or not.

Hi, I just found your journal to find that you have been gone for quite some time. I am dying to know what happened on that 2 week car trip with your wife?
